Hello,

Thanks for your email.

Based on your information, we can say that your bird is sick and needs attention. I highly recommend you to visit your nearest Vet.

-Isolate a bird into other clean cage, that contains a heating pad. It means bird should remain warm. But the cage should not be far away from his partner.
- Make food/water available in front of him 24x7.

- You can buy poultry antibiotic, from pharmacy, (if it is avaialble without prescription) and give it with water for 5 to 10 days , as half of a teaspoon every day. This will at least protect bird from bacterial infection.

Good luck and we wish your pigeon a speedy recovery.

Dear Kumar Ranjan,

Thanks for your email.

Please apply Dettol everyday 4 to 5 times, on the wound.
You can buy antibiotic (for poultry) and use it in water, however, you need to contact your local Vet for the dose.

Dear Modammad Idrees,

Thanks for your email. There are number of causes for dermatits ( inflammation of the skin), such as allergies, autoimmune disorder, fungal and bacterial infections etc. Some of these causes are simple and you really do not need to worry. But some causes need Vet's attention. Please visit your local Vet and he will be able to suggest you a line of treatment.

Anti-histaminic drugs and shampoos might help, but take prescription from your Vet.

Thank you again.

Dear SSKrishna,

Thanks for your email.

Based on your information, I can say that, there might be fungal or bacterial infections (usually around ears, anal glands, foot pads etc) , which remained unnoticed by you or your Vet. You can try to use antibacterial and antifungal shampoo or soap.

Or continue with antibiotic and antifungal injection, from your vet.

Also, keep giving Ivermectin at regular intervals.

Please be aware that any injections or medications should be given by qualified Vet only and under his prescriptions only.

Many thanks,
Dr Vishal Salunkhe

Dear Manjiri,

Thanks for your email. Based on your information, I can say that the puppy has developed infection and therefore, pus is coming out (pus is usually fluid containing white blood cells). Try to visit your local Vet for further treatment, in case, to confirm it is either benign or malignant tumor.

However, you said that it is a street dog and therefore, its your choice to either visit Vet or treat yourself. In this case, you can go for removing cyst aseptically (use 70 % alcohol or dettol) and put cotton swab and pads -like usual dressing.

Please understand that I have not physically examined your puppy and therefore, this email will be just taken as advise but not the final treatment.
